Lorin Bassnectar

Lorin (a/ka Bassnectar, a recording alias and a record label) plays breaks in ways that I don't really even know how to explain and extrapolate upon, other than to say that every time he's anywhere within 100 miles of me, I drop what I'm doing and go dance. if that doesn't sum it up, I'm not sure what will.

Radio

Oftentimes, I stream the internet radios. Since their ID3 tags don't nicely fall into some reporting tools, here's what comprises my general daytime listening:

KCRW for all day background
Dub.com's Podcasts for the low end
Tomas/Forward Ever's Sound Galaxies Podcasts Volume 1 and Volume 2 are great!
Rhythm Incursions offers good alt-hip-hop
Future Breaks for some serious booty shaking.

Soma.fm's mainstay Groove Salad has become more loungey for my taste these days, but it may just be a transition. I've loved it for years.
UPDATE: There's a new stream called "Space Station Soma". I'm checking it out now! high hopes!

Soon, more posts about specifc things I'm listening to, with obligatory Pitchfork or otherwise links!

last.fm

Since this is a music blog, I figger I should publish what I'm listening to:

The let hand column now contains realtime reports from our pals @ last.fm, with my most often listened to Albums & Tracks. They do it better than I do, so here's my last.fm profile.

I like ritual

I also like Blue Bottle coffee.

I am very happy that Ritual has Stumptown beans, as they are really quite A+, and I think that Stumptown's cafes are a great place to model your cafe after.

I think that Ritual has every right and obligation to serve Stumptown, while they prepare their space for their own roaster, especially since the Stumptown guys helped train them on how to use the machines.

I am ecstatic that people there always greet me with a smile, and are nice to randoms as well. I am made even more happy by the fact that I often see friends there.

I think that Ritual & Blue Bottle make the best coffees anywhere in the city, and to be FUCKING HONEST, if you think otherwise, you're wrong.

Just because something is popular, doesn't mean it's bad. It just means that you jaded San Francisco fuckwads can't imagine that something good might be appreciated by others beyond the hallowed inner circle of whateverthefuck you think cool is.

Also, kiss my ass, haters, I play the hits.
--Oliver.
